Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
