The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
