The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
