The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
