The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
