The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
