He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
