The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
