Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
