He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
