The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
