Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
