Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 while you make merry? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
