Al-Zukhruf 5 of 7

And certainly We sent Musa with Our communications to Firon and his chiefs, so he said: Surely I am the apostle of the Lord of the worlds. 46 But when he brought them Our signs, lo, they laughed at them. 47 And We did not show them a sign but it was greater than its like, and We overtook them with chastisement that they may turn. 48 (Whenever they faced an affliction) they would say: “O magician, pray for us to your Lord according to your station with Him. We shall certainly be guided to the Right Way.” 49 But whenever We removed the suffering from them, lo! they would break their word. 50 And Fir'awn proclaimed among his people, saying: O my people! is not mine the dominion of Misr and witness yonder rivers flowing underneath me? See ye not? 51 Am I (not) better than him who is contemptible, and cannot even express himself clearly? 52 Why have bracelets of gold not been given to him and why have some angels not accompanied him?" 53 Thus did he make fools of his people, and they obeyed him: truly were they a people rebellious (against Allah). 54 And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all. 55 We made them a precedent, an example for later peoples. 56
