Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
