The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
