Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
