Certainly Aaron had said to them even before (the return of Moses): "My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf. Surely your Lord is Most Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command." 90 They replied: 'We will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.' 91 (After rebuking his people) Moses turned to Aaron and said: "Aaron! What prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 Aaron answered: "Son of my mother! Do not seize me with my beard, nor by (the hair of) my head. I feared that on returning you might say: 'You sowed discord among the Children of Israel, and did not pay heed to my words.'" 94 Moses said, 'And thou, Samaritan, what was thy business?' 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 Said [Moses]; "Begone, then! And behold, it shall be thy lot to say throughout [thy] life, 'Touch me not! But, verily, [in the life to come] thou shalt be faced with a destiny from which there will be no escape! And [now] look at this deity of thine to whose worship thou hast become so devoted: we shall most certainly burn it, and then scatter [whatever remains of] it far and wide over the sea! 97 Your only deity is God, there is no deity but Him. His knowledge encompasses all things." 98 Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Quran). 99 Whoever disregards (the Quran) will be heavily burdened with sin on the Day of Judgment 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 On the day when the Trumpet is blown and We shall assemble the guilty on that day, blue -eyed. 102 and they shall murmur to one another, "You stayed only ten days on the earth" -- 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
