Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
