The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 weigh with an even balance 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 190 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 191
