The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 191
