۞ (Muhammad), tell them the parable of the two men. To one of them We had given two gardens of vines surrounded by the palm trees with a piece of farm land between them 32 each garden produced its fruit and did not fail to yield its best; We even caused a river to gush forth in the midst of them, 33 (Abundant) was the produce this man had: he said to his companion, in the course of a mutual argument: "more wealth have I than you, and more honour and power in (my following of) men." 34 And having [thus] sinned against himself, he entered his garden, saying, "I do not think that this will ever perish! 35 “I do not think that the Last Day will ever be established – and even if I return to my Lord I will surely find a haven better than this garden.” 36 Disputing with him, his companion said: "Do you disbelieve in Him who created you from dust, then a drop of semen, then formed you into a man? 37 “But I just say that only Allah is my Lord, and I do not ascribe anyone as a partner to my Lord.” 38 It was better for you to say, when you entered your garden: 'That which Allah wills (will come to pass)! There is no power but with Allah '. If you see me less than you in wealth, and children. 39 "It may be that my Lord will give me something better than thy garden, and that He will send on thy garden thunderbolts (by way of reckoning) from heaven, making it (but) slippery sand!- 40 “Or its water may sink into the earth, so you may never be able to find it.” 41 And his fruits were surrounded – he therefore remained helplessly wringing his hands upon all that he had spent on it – and it lay fallen on its canopy – and he says, “If only I had not ascribed any partner to my Lord!” 42 He had no body to help him other than God, nor was he able to save himself. 43 Thereover protection belongs only to God the True; He is best rewarding, best in the issue. 44
