We did not create heaven and earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who deny the truth. Woe betide those who deny the truth, when they are cast into the Fire -- 27 Shall We make those who believe and work righteous works like unto the corrupters in the earth; or shall We make the God-fearing like unto the wicked! 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 When there were brought to him in the evening (horses) still when standing, swift when running-- 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. 34 He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower. 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,- 36 and We also subjected the devils to him -- all kinds of builders and divers; 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
