Whatever affliction may visit you is for what you own hands have earned; and He pardons much. 30 And ye cannot frustrate His punishment in the earth; and there is for you beside Allah neither protector nor helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or, He wrecks them for what they have earned, but He pardons a lot. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves, 39 The recompense of evil is evil the like of it. But he who forgives and makes amends, his reward lies with Allah. Surely He does not love the wrong-doers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
