But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 And it profiteth you not this day, because ye did wrong, that ye will be sharers in the doom. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 And lo! it is in truth a Reminder for thee and for thy folk; and ye will be questioned. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
