And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
