Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of those which carry away while dispersing. 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
