Thamud denied the warning 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
