Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
