The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 arise and give warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 He looked (at others); 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
