Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a high garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
