Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
