And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
