And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation." 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
