The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
