The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
