The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He verily will be content. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
