Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 He plunged the villages 53 and covered them with torment. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
