Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
