The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
