And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, 92 so that thou didst not follow after me? Didst thou then disobey my commandment?' 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Moses said, "What was the matter with you, Samiri?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 Musa said: begone thou! verily it shall be thine in life to say no contact; and verily thine is an appointment which thou shalt by no means fail. And look at thy god to which thou hast been assiduous; we shall surely burn it, and we shall scatter it into the sea a wide scattering. 97 Your only deity is God, there is no deity but Him. His knowledge encompasses all things." 98 Thus relate We unto thee (Muhammad) some tidings of that which happened of old, and We have given thee from Our presence a reminder. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 and live in it for ever; how evil will that burden be for them on the Day of Resurrection. 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Whispering to one another: "You have tarried but ten days." 103 [But] We know best what they will be saying when the most perceptive of them shall say: "You have spent [there] but one day!" 104
