O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And We do not lay on any soul a burden except to the extent of its ability, and with Us is a book which speaks the truth, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 Had the truth followed their caprices, the heavens and the earth and whosoever in them is had surely corrupted. Nay, We brought them their Remembrance, but from their Remembrance they turned. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
