۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
