The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
