The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
