The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
