The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
