Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
