The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
