The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
