Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
